Alissa Cocolin began dancing at age 3 in State College, PA with Mrs. Betty Jane Dittmar. With Mrs. Dittmar she learned contemporary, modern and folk dance. At age 7 she began dancing at Centre Dance of State College to further her knowledge in all dance styles including being on the competition team. Alissa is a graduate of Penn State with a Bachelors Degree in Integrative Arts with focus areas in Dance Studies, Business and Stage Management. While in college Alissa was the program director and coach of the Penn State Altoona Dance team, along with being on the Ivy Side Dance Assemble and choreographing for multiple performances for the theatre program at Penn State Altoona. In 2014 Alissa moved to the Northern Va. Area where she taught at an out reach program called Joy of Dance and traveled to various schools to teach. She also was the Head Dance Coach at Marymount University in Arlington, VA. Alissa recently moved back to State College, PA where she has been teaching and choreographing for Huntingdon Dance Academy. Most of her group pieces she choreographed have placed 1 st overall, Gold and Platinum. Her duets and solos all placed 1 st and 2 nd and a place at regionals.
